Mario Adnet Performs the music of Moacir Santos at the Lincoln Center

MARIO ADNET AND OURO NEGRO PERFORM THE MUSIC OF MOACIR SANTOS IN JOURNEY TO BRAZIL.

In an exclusive U.S. engagement, GRAMMY® award-winning composer and guitarist Mario Adnet and his ensemble Ouro Negro perform in Journey to Brazil at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Mario Adnet

The virtuosic group honors the music of Brazilian composer Moacir Santos (1924-2006), who’s six decades of innovative music influenced Antonio Carlos Jobim, Milton Nascimento and generations of musicians worldwide.

Artists such as Jobim, Moacir Santos, and Mario Adnet have enjoyed a substantial following throughout Brazil and South America gaining a great deal of adoration and respect. However, this will be the first time in history that their music will be performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center. This marks significant exposure and the beginning of a greater celebration for Latin Jazz in the United States.

Ouro Negro, the album named for the group of musicians performing with Mario Adnet, was the debut of Adnet playing Moacir Santos’ music. This album was able to be produced and recorded while Moacir Santos was still alive. The likeness brought tears even to Santos’ eyes. The name of the album is referring to oil as its creation was sponsored by The Brazilian National Oil Company. The connection of these musical works to the Oil industry is politically and socially highly engaging to people of both Brazilian and American heritage.
