Filmmaker Yves Goulart and producer Marcelo Nigri screened their feature doc BEYOND THE LIGHT at the Academy Theater at Lighthouse International.

Directed by Eunice Gutman and written / performed by Susana Fuentes, “Prelude to Memories” is a one-woman show that mixes poetry, dance, and performance into a lyrical journey about a woman’s failed relationship — also covering her journey through the haunting memories of what’s left behind.

Kleber Mendonça Filho’s feature-film debut Neighboring Sounds opens tomorrow (8/24) at two established NY theaters: the IFC Center (downtown) and Lincoln Center’s Elinor Bunin Munroe theater (in the upper east side). New York-based filmmakers David Barba & James Pellerito have been following Brazilian dancer Marcelo Gomes for the past two years. They’ve shot footage of Mr. Gomes in Rio de Janeiro, Manaus (his birthplace), California, Ukraine, Denmark and Greece, and are hoping to finish a documentary about this established dancer by the end of the year.
