Pianist Luiz Simas Talks About his Career & Music – and the Pre-Carnival Night at DROM.

On Saturday, February 6, at DROM, Pianist Luiz Simas will play a great repertoire of sambas specially chosen for dancing samba-no-pé (basic samba step) and passo marcado (simple choreography), the staple dance styles of Rio’s Carnival. And with a large dancing space right in front of the stage, master dance teacher Danielle Lima will give a lesson on how to dance samba – minutes before Mr. Simas and his band enter the stage.

Brazilian Jazz Singer Eliane Elias Plays at Carnegie Hall on Wednesday, Feb 17.

On Wednesday, February 17, 2010 (10PM), Brazilian jazz pianist, arranger, vocalist and songwriter Eliane Elias, together with bass player (and husband) Marc Johnson, guitarist Rubens de La Corte, and drummer Rafael Barata, perform a program of classic Bossa Nova and American songs (sung in English and Portuguese) at the legendary Carnegie Hall.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Duduka began playing the drums at the age of thirteen.
